Residents & Owners

In 2023, lead poisoning remains the #1 environmental threat to the health of America’s children and is so toxic that it is unsafe at any level. Lead paint is still present in many homes built before 1978, sometimes under layers of newer paint. The Department of Community Affairs has lead assistance programs to assist eligible occupants in removing lead from their dwellings. These programs are run by nonprofits all over New Jersey. The links below will provide you with the steps and tools to removing lead and other dangerous hazards from your home.
